I’ve been reading the story of David. David who slays Goliath and authors many psalms to praise God. There comes a point where he sins (commits adultery and has her husband murdered 😅). His dishonor of God leads to a lot of turmoil in his life, but through the trials that come he doesn’t stop being a man after God’s heart. He continues to do his best to praise God and lead his kingdom justly.
During the tumultuous time that comes David’s son Absalom revolts against his kingdom. Absalom has been given so much from his father, but it isn’t enough. 😅 Similar to David. Eventually Absalom is murdered in battle. A battle where he’s hoping to kill his father 😅. David gets the news and is distraught and in grief and screaming his son’s name in agony. Joab, a close advisor angrily tells David no. Essentially giving him a “kill that noise”. If your son you’re screaming for and grieving was still here we wouldn’t be. Think about what that says to your kingdom who loves you. Do you love this man who was going to murder you more than us. More than the folks putting their life on the line for you???
I gained so much from David’s story. The main thing is don’t be greedy 😅. Another aspect that spoke to me is the attachment that can be had to things trying to kill us. I have prayed to overcome obstacles (people, emotions, certain places) and I looked back longing for what was ignoring the death it was setting up for me. Do not let nostalgia confuse you and have you lamenting or feeling sorrow for anything or anyone who came to kill, steal, and destroy. Do your best always to be grateful for what has been your saving grace. How do we treat our Joabs? Give the things that save you all the love they deserve by letting go of what is hurting you. Don’t help the weapons form against you. Be blessed always. Bip Bip. 💎🖤🙏🏾
That last paragraph is powerful. This point is tantamount “ Give the things that save you all the love they deserve by letting go of what is hurting you.” 🎯
